Industrial
development plays a key role in adoption and assimilation of modern
technologies
to secure national welfare, and pride of our beloved country.
Qatar has, ever since the sixties, carefully prepared and successfully
executed its ambitious plans for the development of industry.
Under the wise leadership of H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani,
the Emir of the State of Qatar, H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani,
the Heir Apparent, record achievements have been made in an astonishingly
accelerated pace.
Oil revenues have been optimally employed in laying out of solid
foundations for development of oil and gas and other basic industries,
as well as modern infrastructures capable of servicing present national
industries and future challenges.
Abdullah
Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah
Deputy Prime Minister Minister of Energy and Industry
The
State of Qatar is committed to provide an adequate pro investment
climate that measures up to the expectations of private national
and foreign industrial investments. In an effort to establish a
solid national industrial base apart from oil revenues, as the sole
source of income, and import of industrial products, the state has
adopted an ambitious income diversification policy.
The development of industry and encouragement
of investments are seen as two major levers for optimum utilization
of natural resources given the fact that industrialization plays
a key role in overall economic development. It is capable of creating
better chances for the country's integration with the international
economic system through injecting more national and foreign investments
into the industrial sector.
Similar attention has been given to the
development of national private sector and increasing its stakes
in industrial investments. This represents some of the basic principles
for industrial development and investment while we are expanding
privatization processes, namely in the industrial sector. This
would have positive impact on industrial development, investment,
diversification of production structure, and achievement of sustainable
growth rates.
